Matthias Sahli — applied economist studying IP, digitization and creative industries

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Business School of Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and was previously an economist at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) of the United Nations in Geneva and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Neuchâtel (2023).

My goal is to provide solid empirical evidence that supports current policy discussions. To do this, I invest considerable time — and creativity — in developing new datasets (often by building web crawlers) and conducting rigorous econometric analyses: difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity and event-study designs.
